Christian Music Workshops organised by tht National Youth Department/ Malagasy Lutheran Church, Madagascar

Two workshops on Christian music were held within the National Youth Department of the Malagasy Lutheran Church in Madagascar. The two workshops took place successively in Antananarivo at the National Youth Centre on January 15-18 and in Antsirabe at the regional Youth Centre on January 28-31. Forty participants were present to each workshop and most of them are church musicians. The participants are from the different parts of Madagascar, in fact, from the different synods in the Malagasy Lutheran Church. One more workshop on Christian music will take place next week, in Fianarantsoa, on February 5-8.

The workshops are lead by Sigvald Tveit, an associate professor of Musicology at the University of Oslo, Norway.

The objectives of the workshops are to let the church musicians better understand their role in the church life and to share experiences between themselves. It is also a culture bridging between Norway and Madagascar on music.
