Getting Started- LWF Internship 2008
February 6, 2008 in Youth
The exciting LWF youth internship program has just kicked off!!
Two LWF interns this year - Rolita Machila from Africa and Francis Chan from Asia – would like to take this opportunity to greet all of you who are reading the Youth Blog.
A picture is worth a thousand word to introduce ourselves. Here is the photo we have taken together just last weekend.
Rolita is on the right and Francis is on the left. This is the first time both of us experience how snow feels like. Thanks Roger for the wonderful tour to the mountains.
As you may see in the photo, Rolita looks so young. But she is already an ordained pastor!
Rolita is from Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zambia and was serving the church in the capacity of treasurer as well as administrative secretary just before her coming to Geneva.
Rolita has arrived on the beginning of January already in the Department for Theology and Studies.
And Francis is from Hong Kong, a city located in the southern part of China. The church he belongs to is called Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong. He is a journalist before coming here to work in the Youth Desk of Department for Mission and Development.
Instead of interviewing business tycoons of the listed companies as in the past, he now has a great opportunity to meet the church leaders everyday just along the corridor in the ecumenical center and learn a lot from them about LWF and other organizations’ ministries worldwide.
Undoubtedly, we, as youth interns, are going to meet a lot of young people coming from countries around the world.
For example, starting from tomorrow to next Monday, we are going to be part of the Ecumencial Leadership Training of the World Council of Churches. Soon in the March, we are going with a larger group of interns from other organizations: WCC, WSCF, YMCA, YWCA and ACT to a three-day retreat.
From time to time, we will share with you the interesting learning experience here in Geneve. Never hesitate to write a message in the blog to share with us your thoughts too.

Francis and Rolita!
Wishing you a great time at LWF in Geneva! I’m sure you will have some amazing ecumenical experiences. This is what I’m having here at the LWF / ELCA office in New York. And some time the snow will melt even in Geneva!
