The LWF Youth desk focuses on advocacy for increased youth participation. One way to do this, is by offering programs for young people throughout the communion of the LWF. The following programs are planned for the future:
Youth Internship 2009
Young people (18-30 years old) who are active in a LWF member church are invited to work for 10 months at the headquarters of the LWF in Geneva. More Information
LWF Youth Liaisons
In order that young people have their say in the Lutheran World Federation and get connected, every member church (or its youth organization) nominates a youth liaison. They exchange information and discuss important issues in an online consultation. More information…
Engage: LWF Global Training for young leaders
Meaningful youth participation requires training. Therefore, starting in 2008, the LWF is going to provide training in youth participation for young leaders. The second regional meeting for the Africa region is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, 1-8 October 2008. Applications are invited now. You find further information and the application form for participants from Africa here.
HIV and Aids is a major problem in many countries. Young people are the age group that is affected the most. Therefore, it is important that young people of faith raise their voices and engage in the international policy making process. At the same time, it is a good opportunity for young Lutheran activists to learn more and create more effective programs in their home contexts.

Pre-Council Youth Workshops / Stewards
Between General Assemblies, the LWF Council is the main governing body of the LWF. Immediately prior to a council meeting, a Pre-Council Youth Workshops convenes to prepare the young council members and the stewards for the council meeting. Stewards are young volunteers who help with the adminstrative aspects of a council meeting and gain exposure to an ecumenical and international background.
The last Pre-Council Youth Workshop took place close to Lund, Sweden (more information)
In June 2008, the LWF Council will meet again. The date and venue of the Pre-Council Youth Workshop has not been decided, yet.
