“Engage: LWF Global Training for young leaders” enables young leaders (18-30 years old) to meaningfully participate in their churches and gather other young people to do the same. The thematic work of the training is directed to the 2010 LWF General Assembly and is going to explore the theme “Give us today our daily bread” from all aspects relevant to young people. Globally, 48 young people are going to be selected to participate in the program.
Setup
The training consists of the following elements:
- Regional Meeting (Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe)
- Planning and implementation of a activity in the local context
- Participation as steward in the General Assembly of the LWF
- Global Debriefing Meeting in connection with the assembly
Selection of the participants
Young people who are active in member churches of the LWF and their youth ministry can apply for participation in the International Leadership Program. There is going to be an effort to ensure gender and regional balance.
Funding
The Lutheran World Federation will cover the necessary expenses relating to the participation of the program. Costs for applying for the program cannot be reimbursed.
Schedule:
Africa is the second region to hold its regional meeting. It is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, 1-8 October 2008. The application deadline is 5 July 2008.
